The Tony Red band have only been together for a short time but it seems they have accomplished more than most bands do during their entire existence. Writing an album is an huge undertaking on it’s own but this band has managed to write it, record it, and ink a distribution deal with Gracie Productions/EMI. The next step for The Tony Red band is to set out on a national tour in support of the new album which will be released July 28th. Find out what else the band is up to in our newest 10 questions interview.

1. How long has the band been together and what is your current lineup?

We have known each other for quite a while.  Many of us have played together with other projects.  But Tony Red Band has been together since Early November of 2009.
Currently we have Tony Herdman: Vocals - Rhythm Guitar - Song writer; Scotty Bratcher - Lead Guitar; Dino Dimitrouleas - Bass; Rob Brockman - Drums - Vocals; and Norm Dimitrouleas - Piano - Keys.  The Band manager is James Frye.

2. How would you describe your group’s style? What are the bands collective influences?

The most common thing we hear is that our style is unlike most music out there right now.  The easy answer we would be to say we have a rock root.  But we cover a very wide spectrum in our new album.
The band has a wide background of influence: Bob Dylan, Phish, and Ben Harper to name a few.

3. What is the bands songwriting process? Is there a main writer or is it a group effort? Explain?

We have quite a process of putting together our music.  Usually writes most of material.  We bring this to a band practice where the rest of the band will add their own touch to piecing together a song.  The process each time varies.  We touch up things or change something if someone hears something out of place or feel we need to add a little something extra to a song.  We enjoy the process and everyone has a major role to play in putting a song together.

4. What are your current goals as a band? (Working on CD, Booking, Tour, etc.)

We had the major goal of putting our self titled CD Tony Red Band together.  We reached this goal just a few days ago.  It was about a 4 month process that was satisfying to have completed.  Release date is Tuesday July 28th able to be purchased online at amazon.com, itues.com, walmart.com, napster.com, and most online digital download providers.  Norm is dead set on playing SNL.  We really just would enjoy traveling and playing our music for everyone out there.
Now that the CD is wrapped up we are working on a national tour.  We also have some things in the works to make it over seas for a few months.  We are excited to get what we have worked on over the past 8 months out there to people.

5. What goals have you set for yourself in the past that you have or have not achieved and why?

Getting signed to a major record company was one of our most memorable moments.  That is a goal that most musicians try to reach.  When we found out Gracie Productions was interested and EMI would be taking care of the digital distribution it was a goal we were glad to hit.
And as we mentioned the CD we have completed was another major goal.  It was a very intense process.  But the day we delivered the Master copy to our record company was a good feeling.

Our new goal it to hit a major tour.  We are working on making that happen with the next few months.  Once we know something on that front it will be posted on www.tonyredband.com

6. What Dayton clubs would we be able to see you perform?

Brixx Ice Company on E First St.  We have several shows coming up there including our CD release party July 28th starting at 9pm.

7. Do you have many out of town shows? Where?

Currently we have not booked anymore out of town shows due to waiting on the official tour to be announced.  The biggest thing we were waiting on to set the tour was the completion of the first album.  Now we will be able to focus on hitting the road.

8. Give us some details on one of your most memorable moments as a band? Good or Bad.

Of course getting signed.  The day we all signed the paper work with Gracie Productions was memorable.  And of course the album wrap up and delivery to the record company.

9. What advice would you give someone that is just starting to play the Dayton scene?

Stick with what your doing.  Never get discouraged, play and practice as much as you can.  Believe in your original material.  Compromise within the band and respect of your band members opinion.

10. Who are some of your favorite Dayton bands?

Magic Jackson, The Werks, Buddy Danko and the Tokens, Dead City Drifters, The goods, Alec Delpphinic Trio and Romeo Champain.
