10 Questions with Chapter of Progress Print E-mail

chapter1

With an album just waiting to be recorded and the recognition of being the 2008 winner of the WXEG Battle for Xfest, Chapter of Progress seem to be heading into 2009 with their stars in alignment. I’ll let the guys do the talking for themselves in this months installment of 10 Questions...

1. How long has the band been together and what is your current lineup?

Well we've had a couple different not so outstanding singers and a few drunken bass players over, we'll say a 4 yr. period. Still love the guys, just for the record, however todays lineup is the product of much patience and a lot of auditions OK some really bad auditions. Hate having to tell someone they don't get the job. It sucks.  The roster is Cameron Rigmaiden/guitars, Landon Rigmaiden/Drums, Josh "Slinky" Miller/vocals and the Dread Head Tim Hankinson/bass 2. How would you describe your group's style? What are the bands collective influences? Progressively funky metal. Make sense? Cool. Uh, Pantera, Bullet For My Valentine, Led Zeppelin, Killswitch Engage, Motley Crue, Avenged Sevenfold, Testament, The Who, Blue Oyster Cult and tons more!!!!!!

3. What is the bands songwriting process? Is there a main writer or is it a group effort? Explain?

The guitar parts are brought into practice and are played over and over. Each member connects their own piece of the puzzle by continuously looping each little section of the song until it's where we feel it needs to be. Lots of new stuff by the way!!!

4. What are your current goals as a band? (Working on CD, Booking, Tour, etc.)

Well the album is written just looking for the perfect studio to record it in. We will be submitting and promoting our stuff to absolutely no end. Hopefully someone hears the stuff and has as much faith in it as we do. Then let the touring begin.

5. What goals have you set for yourself in the past that you have or have not achieved and why?

Honestly we didn't think we would have accomplished so much in such little time. Actually played our first show together April 2nd @ the Nite Owl. Two months later we took 1st place in the Battle for Xfest. Didn't think it was possible considering the lack of time we had to establish such a following. So many of our faithful friends from way back have stuck with us and helped us show Dayton what these Franklin boys are all about.

6. What Dayton clubs would we be able to see you perform?

W.O. Wrights, Bada Bings, McGuffy's, Coyotes Pub, Oregon Express, Foundry, The Brewery, The Pearl, Canal Street Tavern, anywhere that will have us.

7. Do you have many out of town shows? Where?

That's our next step. Out of town schedule is in the process.

8. Give us some details on one of your most memorable moments as a band? Good or Bad.

Ha, Ha. Definately when we played the semi-finals and the Finals at the battle for xfest at the Foundry. Our crowd was so loud and out of control (in a good way though).  Jericho from The X came onto stage after our last song to say a few words. Well our people were chanting CHAPTER so loud that it was impossible to even talk to the person next to you. It possibly could've been heard across town. The DJ gave up the attempt to say what he was trying to say and walked off stage.  Even over the Pa he couldn't be heard. Ha, Ha. Truly phenomenal!

9. What advice would you give someone that is just starting to play the Dayton scene?

Promote it and play it. Promote your band like a psychotic teenager. Who cares if you get on peoples nerves with promotion. People will then hear your heart. It's good for you and the venues.

10. Who are some of your favorite Dayton bands?

SILK ABRASION, SECONDS FALL, T.I.N.J., THESE LAST FEW, ADMITTED DILEMMA, CIRCLE OF TWELVE, ORANGE WILLARD, SOMETIMES 5, REAPER, FLUWID, THE WHISKEY BOMBS, FELIX TUCKER, FOREVER BURN, MONOLYTHE, SO MANY TO MENTION. WHAT A ROSTER OF BANDS. NOW LET'S WORK ON GETTING US AND THESE ALL THESE AMAZING BANDS NATIONAL AIRPLAY!!!! HIT US UP ON MYSPACE.
